Entering the Gates of Righteousness

Writer's picture: jacarroll71jacarroll71

Today’s reading: Psalm 115:1-118:29

My selection: Psalm 118:19-24

19 Open to me the gates of righteousness,

 that I may enter through them

and give thanks to the Lord.

20 This is the gate of the Lord;

the righteous shall enter through it.

21 I thank you that you have answered me

and have become my salvation.

22 The stone that the builders rejected

has become the cornerstone.

23 This is the Lord’s doing;

it is marvelous in our eyes.

24 This is the day that the Lord has made;

let us rejoice and be glad in it

My reflections: The Psalmist prays for entrance through the gates of righteousness. He got his answer and was granted salvation. Here a clear reference to Jesus Christ is seen, the stone that the builders rejected who would become the cornerstone. The day of salvation has come, a day which the Lord has made, worthy of all rejoicing.

My challenge: Enter the gates of righteousness through the One who is “the way, the truth and the life” (John 14:6). He was rejected by those who built the temple but not by the God of the temple. In Him alone we have salvation. [ see also Matt. 21:42; I Peter 2:4-7].

Tomorrow’s reading: Psalm 119:1-85
