Today’s reading: Jeremiah 27:1-29:32
My selection: Jeremiah 29:7
But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.
My reflections:God’s will for His people may lead through very dark valleys, tears, and trials, and a very miserable exile. Judah was, by God’s will, in exile in Babylon. They were where they were supposed to be, as uncomfortable as it was. God commanded them to pray for their captors and to be a blessing to the nation that had overcome them. Ultimately, they would be blessed, too, and would return to their land.
My challenge:You may not like the place you are in right now, but seek to promote good and to be a benefit in your current setting. If you are God’s, He has your good planned and it will not be thwarted (vs. 11).
Tomorrow’s reading: Jeremiah 30:1-31:40
