The Unknown Jesus

Today’s reading:

My Selection:

But I tell you that it will be more tolerable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom than for you.”  At that time Jesus declared, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. Matthew 11:24-26

In previous blogs, [here and here] I have pointed out the frequent ironies in the Bible, as in “the first will be last and the last first.”  Here Jesus says that wise and understanding people will not grasp His teaching but the little children, the simple believers who trust Him will.

Another irony is that Jesus who is thought  by the uninformed to be all love and no judgment proclaims a day of coming judgment on the towns of Chorazin and Capernaum.

Jesus: Judge or Savior?

Jesus is the judge but for those who humble themselves and believe Him, He is Savior.  Be sure you know the unknown Jesus.
