Saturday, October 1, 2016  Why Being Good is not Good Enough

My selection:

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’  Matthew 7:21-23

Being good is not good enough to earn forgiveness, entrance into heaven, and eternal life.  But there is good news.  Jesus Christ died to save His people from their sins (Matthew 1:21) and by faith in Him we are saved.  For more on this go here to my blog of October 1, 2013.

Sunday, October 2, 2016   The Authority of Jesus

My selection:

And when Jesus finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, for he was teaching them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes. Matthew 7:28-29

It was not only the content of Jesus’ teaching that astounded the crowds who heard Him, but also the authority with which He spoke.  Has His authority astounded you?  He is Lord of all.  Recognize Him as Lord of you, too.

See you again on Monday.
