Today’s reading: Ezekiel 38:1-40:37
My selection: Ezekiel 39:21-23
21 “And I will set my glory among the nations, and all the nations shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid on them. 22 The house of Israel shall know that I am the Lord their God, from that day forward. 23 And the nations shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity, because they dealt so treacherously with me that I hid my face from them and gave them into the hand of their adversaries, and they all fell by the sword.
My reflections: God, through Ezekiel, foretold His wrath and judgment upon Israel through Gog, the king of Magog. But He also foretells the final outcome of this punishment: the nations would understand the reason for it, Israel would be re-established in the land, and His glory would be set among the nations.
Again we see that God is faithful to His covenant people, Israel, both in bringing judgment on them and also in fulfilling His purposes to ultimately bless them. God uses the wicked powers of this world to discipline and correct His own people. In the end, God is glorified.
My challenge: Whatever the current circumstances of our world, God rules and is faithful to His covenant promises to His people. Do not fear the powers of this world, but fear the Lord. There is wisdom in fearing Him alone. Trust in His power, faithfulness, and love. There is peace in trusting Him alone. He is glorified when you fear and trust Him, walking in wisdom and peace.
